when to use a speech-language pathologist:

you should contact a speech-language pathologist if your child has:

  • difficulty following directions
  • unintelligible speech or if he/she is difficult to understand
  • difficulty tellling you what he/she wants
  • poor listening skills
  • difficulty thinking of the "right" word
  • limited word attempts by 18 month of age
  • difficulty formulating greater then 2 words combinations by 2 years of age
